Joining

UK-TUG is the TeX user’s group for the UK. We support TeX use generally, but with a focus on UK-specific support, for example running training courses, our annual speaker meeting and Baskerville. We also run a mailing list for TeX-related information which all members are automatically added to. Membership of UK-TUG for 2010 is available for £10 and includes a copy of the latest TeX Live DVD.
We also offer joint membership with the worldwide TeX User Group (TUG). TUG supports large-scale TeX-related events, running the annual TUG conference, publishing TUGBoat and providing financial support to projects such as LuaTeX. Joint membership of UK-TUG and TUG is £50, a considerable saving on the two separately.
The same form is used for UK-TUG membership and joint TUG/UK-TUG membership:

Benefits

As well as reduced rates for joint UK-TUG/TUG membership, members also have access to the UK-TUG Book Scheme, offering up to 25 % of the cover price of relevant titles. The publishers currently offering discounts though our scheme are:
  • Pearson (The umbrella company incorporating Addison-Wesley)
  • O’Reilly

The arrangements with Pearson includes the Guide to LaTeX and LaTeX Companion as well as Donald Knuth’s publications, back into availability at a price which undercuts those offered by Web-based booksellers. The Pearson Group also embraces additional publishing houses including Adobe, PeachPit, Prentice–Hall, Que & Sams which may also come within the discount scheme, though this has yet to be tested. If you wish to take advantage of this scheme, please email the committee.
