Inspected accounts

The inspected accounts for 2007–08, as presented at the AGM, are now available on-line as a PDF file.

  1. Just thought I’d explain about “inspected accounts”.

It’s a good move for the accounts of any organisation to be checked by an independent person, and in some cases this is a legal obligation. If UK-TUG were a charity, our accounts would need to be “inspected”, because our turnover is pretty small (see the Charities Act 1993, as amended). Larger charities need to get their accounts “audited”. The difference lies in the level of detail involved in the examination, and in the fact that the qualifications for an auditor are quite specific, whereas an inspection can be carried out by a accountant who need not have additional auditing qualifications.

Although UK-TUG is not a charity, we have always tried to align our financial procedures with those required for charities.

    David Saunders
    Treasurer, UK-TUG
